OPERA IS AWESOME ANNOUNCES ADVENTURES CAMP

at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church
Opera is Awesome Adventures Camp

The Opera is Awesome Adventures Camp, through Your Child’s Musical Wish/Opera Is Awesome, LLC, will present “It Ain’t Over Till the Scientist Sings,” at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church for its 2024 summer camp offering.

The camp offers a two-week session for students kindergarten through 8th grade, July 8th - July 12th (Monday through Friday), and July 15th - July 19th, (Monday through Friday) at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 728 West Union Street, Morganton, NC. The session culminates with a performance at 7 p.m. July 19.

It Ain’t Over Till the Scientist Sings is a children’s opera focused on how the arts and sciences complement one another. Utilizing the beautiful music of opera and musical theater, this production centers around the original idea of celebrating the arts through the eyes and hearts of the great minds of scientific discovery, such George Washington Carver and Leonardo da Vinci. The play was written by Opera is Awesome CEO Linda Suda, Artist in Residence and Certified Arts Teacher, South Carolina Arts Commission, Fayetteville Arts Council/Cumberland County, NC.

The performing arts of this opera contains dialogue in English, with a sprinkling of Italian, which ‘breathes life’ into what can be achieved by listening to both sides of the brain. This lively presentation takes its form from classic operatic compositions including Verdi’s LA TRAVIATA and Gilbert and Sullivan’s THE GONDOLIERS to Mozart’s DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE and Rossini’s THE BARBER OF SEVILLE.
Academic research has shown that when children participate in the performing arts, they experience an increase in self-confidence and self-expression, which results in an improvement in their scholastic achievements.
The Performance will run approximately 45 minutes.

Opera Is Awesome CEO Linda Suda named a Certified Teaching Artist by The South Carolina Arts Commission!

NEW OPERA AVAILABLE!

What is this Thing that is Called Love?

OPERA IS AWESOME

We are a 'learning opera' for children and audiences alike. Utilizing the beautiful music of opera and musical theater, the opera centers around the original idea of teaching the audience about the singer's vocal apparatus. Dialogue in English with a sprinkling of Italian brings all of the ideas into focus and makes learning about a potentially complicated subject interesting and fun. This romp takes us from DIE FLEDERMAUS and CARMEN all the way to Mozart's THE MAGIC FLUTE and Verdi's RIGOLETTO. The Opera runs approximately 45 minutes.

Despite Nascar, planes and trains OPERA IS AWESOME still remains!
